The New England Wrestling Weekend Preview: 4/20/12 – 4/21/12

April 19, 2012 Leave a comment

Our weekly New England Wrestling Weekend Preview features cards and advertised wrestlers for as many shows as possible throughout New England this weekend. Cards are always subject to change and matches listed do not necessarily constitute the only matches on the card (there may be more).

April 20

Chaotic Wrestling, 8 p.m., Elks Lodge (Woburn, Mass.)

CW Heavyweight Championship: Brian Fury (c) vs. Mike Nice
Featuring 3 “Beat the Clock” matches, with the quickest winner earning a CW title shot
Beat the Clock: Tomasso Ciampa vs. Chase Del Monte
Beat the Clock: “Kingpin” Brian Milonas vs. “The Enforcer” Max Bauer
Beat the Clock: Julian Starr vs. “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke
CW New England Championship: Matt Taven (c) vs. Biff Busick
CW Tag Team Championships: The Logan Brothers (c) vs. Taka Suzuki/Mikaze

  • NEPW Notes: A huge card in Woburn featuring six of the top talents across New England. Plus, with CW Heavyweight Champion, Brian Fury on hand to see who will be the next to challenge him for the title, things could explode. Fury also defends the title vs. Mike Nice. The Milonas-Bauer feud has been boiling for months (Bauer knocked out Milonas with a baseball bat a few weeks ago) and Ciampa-Del Monte is sure to be a very athletic match. Locke cost Starr the CW title in a match last month, so the high-flyer will be looking for revenge, along with another bid at claiming gold.
  • UPDATE: Just minutes after posting this story, “The Sure Thing” Mark Shurman made sure EVERYONE knows that he’ll be in both Woburn and Littleton this weekend. He made his CW debut last month, and things didn’t go as planned, as Biff Busick scored the pinfall victory. But the outspoken, Shurman will be in Woburn and Littleton this weekend. What does he have in store?

Showcase Pro Wrestling, 7:47 p.m, Tauton Elks (Taunton, Mass.)

Showcase Pro Wrestling Championship: Cargill Vinton (c) vs. “Heartthrob”Danny Cama (from Taunton)
Showcase Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship: Night and Damon (c) vs. Mac Attack
Heavyweight Super Challenge: Reverend Redemptions (444 lbs.) vs. Crazy Chainsaw Bastard – 353lbs.
Also featuring Sgt. Muldoon with Convicts, “Nature boy” Gary Gold & The Portuguese Stallion

  • NEPW Notes: The hometown hero, Danny Cama, getting a shot at the championship in his hometown should make for an electric main event. The Heavyweight Super Challenge will make for a tremendous visual as well.

April 21

Wrestling Star Wars, 6:30 p.m., Newbury Fire Hall (Newbury, Mass.)

WSW Heavyweight Championship: Todd Sople (c) vs. Johnny Cromwell
Mask vs. Hair Match: Jim Sergeant vs. Chris “36” Chamberz
NE Title Semifinals: Hunter Ward vs. G.A. West
NE Title Semifinals: Mike Paiva vs. “Devil’s Reject” Brandon Webb
NE Title Finals: Ward/West vs. Paiva/Webb
Singles Match: Captain “Anti” Liberty vs. Andy “Surfer Dude” Mackenzie
Singles Match: Gunar Rowe vs. Freight Train Dan
Handicap Match: Justin Silence vs. Cuban Assassin’s 1 & 2
Triple Threat: Joe Moakley vs. Kyle Andrews vs. Alex Creed
Tag Team Match: The M1nute Men vs. Scufflin’ Hillbilly’s

  • NEPW Note: A gigantic card up in Newbury that I might check out after heading over to CW on Friday night in Woburn. Like I said last week, I’m a big fan of tournaments which has be excited for the crowning of a new New England Champion on Saturday, in tournament format. Gunar Rowe is also on the show and The M1nute Men vs. the Scufflin’ Hillbillies should be a unique tag match.

Chaotic Wrestling, 7 p.m., Littleton Opera House (Littleton, NH)

CW Heavyweight Championship: Brian Fury (c) vs. Julian Starr
Falls Count Anywhere: Brian Milonas vs. Max Bauer
CW Women’s Championship: Mercedes KV (c) vs. TBA
CW New England Championship: Matt Taven vs. TBA
CW Tag Team Championships: The Logan Brothers vs. TBA

  • NEPW Notes: The night after big card in Woburn, CW heads north to Littleton, New Hampshire. Fury and Starr ALWAYS have great matches — there is tremendous chemistry there — so expect a classic in the heavyweight title bout (assuming Fury survives his defense vs. Mike Nice on Friday). Then Milonas and Bauer, Falls Count Anywhere, will be a BRAWL. Plus three other title matches scheduled to be on this card. Really big show.

All Out Mayhem, 7 p.m., Newbegin Community Center (Gray, Me.)

Featuring: AOM Heavyweight Champion “The Living Legend” Larry Zbyszko, John Cena Sr., Robbie Ellis, Coco the Mime, Ryan Michaels, “Extreme” Adam Hastey, “Rugged” Rick Daniels, Gino Martino, Ryan London, the New England Wrecking Crew

  • NEPW Notes: Larry Zbyszko is truly a living legend, so go out of your way to catch him if you’re in the area. You also never know what John Cena Sr. will say. I checked out AOM last year when I was up in Maine and I was really impressed with the show. The New England Wrecking Crew is also a big attraction on this card.

Showcase Pro Wrestling, 7:07 p.m., SPWTC (Woonsocket, RI)

Tag Team Match: Cargill Vinton (SPW Champion) Buck Nasty, The Convicts with Sgt. Muldoon vs. “Sensational” Scott Levesque, Nicholas Night and Mark “Flex” Damon
Singles Match: Jon Thronill vs. “Kolorful” Kenn Karizma
Also Featuring: “Widowmaker” Eric Shredd, “5 Star Scott Leduc with Johnny Ray Justice, Keanu “the Samoan Destroyer” and Monster Attack – Monster Mac and Trainee #1

  • NEPW Notes: That six-man main event is going to be a very good — and likely very WILD — match.

CW: Champion Brian Fury attacked at New England Pro Wrestling Academy

April 13, 2012 Leave a comment

NORTH ANDOVER — The following video was submitted to Chaotic Wrestling earlier this week, and depicts a pair of masked men attacking CW Heavyweight Champion Brian Fury at his wrestling school, the New England Pro Wrestling Academy in North Andover. The incident took place April 8. Chaotic Wrestling’s website “condemns the actions of individuals involved” and “takes zero responsibility for the despicable act.”

Fury is scheduled to defend the CW Heavyweight Championship twice next weekend, when he takes on Mike Nice in Woburn on Friday (April 20) and then faces Julian Starr in Littleton (NH) on Saturday (April 21). To see the video, click the jump … Read more…

The New England Wrestling Weekend Preview: 4/13/12-4/15/12

April 12, 2012 Leave a comment

This is going to be a weekly feature on the site, where we’ll preview the upcoming weekend in wrestling shows around New England, listing as many cards and appearances as we can. As a fan myself, I encourage EVERYONE who reads this to make it out to a show this weekend, there are some really great cards on tap with a lot of incredibly talented and hard-working individuals.

Friday (April 13)

NWA On Fire, 7 p.m., Nasson Community Center (Springvale, Maine)
Street Fight Tag Match: Da Hoodz vs. M1nute Men
Also featuring: Johnny Calzone (NWA On Fire Force Champion), Giant Pharaoh, East Coast Cowboy, Brian Fury (NWA On Fire Champion), Julian Starr, Sebastian Cruz

  • NEPW Notes: NWA on Fire always puts on great shows for the fans up in Maine. I’ve seen Da Hoodz and M1nute Men a number of times, and the idea of the two teams brawling in a street fight is quite intriguing. Expect a physical, brutal match between those two teams. It’s also a really stacked card with NWA on Fire champ Brian Fury on the show, along with a favorite of mine, Julian Starr.

NCW, 8 p.m., Knights of Columbus (Foxboro, Mass.)
HW Title Q’Final: Doug Summers vs. Buddy Roman
HW Title Q’Final: JT Dunn vs. Richard Pacifico
HW Title Q’Final: GA West vs. David Marxxx-Loomis
HW Title Semifinal: Dunn/Pacifico winner vs. West/Loomis winner
HW Title Semifinal: Summers/Roman winner vs. Ruy Batello
Elimination Tag: Kellan Thomas, William Thorne, Todd Sople & Gunar Rowe vs. Mike Paiva, Kevin Cordeiro, Christopher James & Michael Tootsie Esquire.
Also featuring: Steve Weiner, The Lumberjake, “Dynamic” Jon Thornhill, Scotty Vegas

  • NEPW Notes: I’ve always been a big fan of tournaments, and after Friday night in Foxboro, NCW will be down to its tournament final to crown a new heavyweight champion.

NAWA, 7:30 p.m., Winslow High School (Winslow, Maine)
Featuring: Shockwave the Robot, Cameron Matthews, The Scufflin’ Hillbillies

Saturday (April 14)

Liberty States Wrestling, 7 p.m., John McCarthy Elementary School (Peabody, Mass.)
Singles Match: Todd Sople vs. Delirious (ROH, Chikara vet)
LSW No Limit Championship: Steve Weiner (c) vs. Gunar Rowe
Tag Match: Bob Evans & Rocco Abruzzi vs. Andy Ridge & Vinny Marseglia
Singles Match: Ernesto Osirus (ROH vet) vs. Nick Westgate
Singles Match: Owen Grachien vs. Taka Suzuki
Singles Match: Tony Spencer vs. “Freight train” Dan
Singles Match: Ryan Waters vs. Davey Loomis

  • NEPW Notes: LSW runs out of the McCarthy school, which is literally just down the road from me and they always put on a great show, for the entire family. Delirious is a good get for LSW, and a surefire crowd pleaser, meaning Todd Sople should have his hands full. I’m also personally looking forward to the Abruzzi-Evans vs. Ridge-Marseglia tag match as well as Osirus vs. Westgate, who have been jabbing each other on Twitter this week.

Gold Standard Wrestling, 7:30 p.m., Knights of Columbus (Bridgewater, Mass.)
US Title Q’Final: JT Dunn vs. “Devil’s Reject” Brandon Webb
US Title Q’Final: “First Class” Vladimir Joseph vs. “Kid Reflex” Eric Dylan
US Title Q’Final: Dan De Man vs. Mikko “FinnHammer” Halme
US Title Q’Final: “The Great” David Baker vs. Lumberjake
US Title Semifinal: Dunn/Webb vs. Joseph/Dylan
US Title Semifinal: Dan De Man/Halme vs. Baker/Lumberjake
US Title Championship Match: Semifinal winner vs. Semifinal winner
Tag Team Match: Devin Baker & “Shady” Shay vs. Don Vega & Keanu
Singles Match: Barbie Menegan vs. Luscious Latasha

  • NEPW Notes: Again, I really like tournaments, and GSW has done a great job with this debut card. Brandon Webb vs. JT Dunn could steal the show and by night’s end, there will be a GSW United States Champion. It also sounds like GSW will be back in Bridgewater for their second show sometime in June, and with the card they have lined up, they’re sure to build some momentum.

NWA On Fire, 7 p.m., Richards School (Gardiner, Maine)
Tag Match: Brian Fury & Mystery Partner vs. Makua & Mystery Partner
Also featuring: Johnny Calzone (NWA On Fire Force Champion), Giant Pharaoh, Da Hoodz, Big John Riggs, Minute Men, the Rochester Wrecking Crew (NWA North-American Tag Team Champions)

  • NEPW Notes: Much of the same roster from the Friday show, with the addition of the Rochester Wrecking Crew, the NWA North-American Tag Team Champions. Should be another solid NWA on Fire card.

Micro Championship Wrestling, 6 p.m., Everett Rec Center (Everett, Mass.)
Three-Way Dance: Tanaka vs. Jerry Gunnz vs. Mr. Anc
Also featuring: Johnny G, Jersey Jess, Shortsleeve, Demo and Trixie
*Note: Hulk Hogan is not scheduled to appear

  • NEPW Notes: Not really sure what to expect from this show. I never was able to catch Hulk Hogan’s MCW on television, but I’ve heard from those who have that it was entertaining

Slam All Star Wrestling, 7 p.m., Enosburg Opera House (Enosburg, Vt.)
Featuring: Mikey Mudd, James Nevermore, Michael Monroe, Dos Loco Lucha, Ace Avery, Shiloh Robinson, Eric Alden, Big Vigo

Millennium Wrestling Federation returns to Melrose on Sept. 22

April 11, 2012 Leave a comment

Millennium Wrestling Federation (MWF) will return to Memorial Hall in Melrose, Mass. on Sept. 22 with its “Birthday Bash.” No matches have been announced yet, but in the past, MWF has combined the best on the local scene.

After an angle at Soul Survivor VIII, I’d expect to see Brian Fury vs. Al Snow as a featured match on the card. Paul Bearer, recently installed as the president of MWF North, is a good bet to appear as well. In the last year, MWF has brought in Snow, Bearer, Carlito, The Boogeyman, Fit Finlay, Low Ki, Abyss, Bushwhacker Luke and other top talent from around New England. Low Ki is the current MWF Heavyweight Champion, and another good bet to appear. Read more…
